Natchitoches, Louisiana

Natchitoches, LA is the Christmas capital of the south and FILLED with charm. This quaint small town is a must visit for an old soul like myself.

The oldest town in Louisiana is lit with colorful Christmas lights from the Saturday before Thanksgiving until the first week of January. You can find their famous meat pies, live music, boat rides along the river, fireworks, kid’s activities & more.

Natchitoches (pronounced “na•kuh• tish”) is crawling with adorable bed and breakfasts, but they book out for Christmas time way ahead, so plan your trip in advance!

This cute town is also home of the Steel Magnolias House, that is now a bed & breakfast (the perfect stay!)

This year marks their 95th annual Christmas Fest!

Some Recommendations:

  1. Mama’s Oyster House - located on Front Street (best view of the river & lights)

  2. Lasyone’s Meat Pie - this is a restaurant known for their famous Natchitoches meat pies, but they set up a small booth to serve food on the street - the crawfish meat pie is a true taste of Louisiana!

  3. Story Brew - do yourself a favor and grab some early morning coffee from this local coffee shop & take a stroll on the cobble stone street along Cane River.

This is the town where my husband went to college to play baseball for a short time. This is where he fell in love with the Creole culture! He can vouch for these food recs :)

‘Til next time, Natchitoches! You were wonderful.
